Pontypool 26
Wanderers 6

PONTYPOOL struck a huge blow in their bid to beat the drop with a hard-earned bonus-point win over a Wanderers outfit which has now lost nine straight
games.

Wing Steve Taylor went over in the corner in the 77th minute to make it a five-pointer at a muddy Pontypool Park.

Pooler led 21-6 at the break after making the most of some sloppy Wanderers defending to cross the line three times.

Scrum-half Calwyn Morgan dashed over after just two minutes, before setting up centre Chris Macey, with full-back Geraint O’Driscoll converting both superbly.

And the visitors had a mountain to climb when Taylor weaved through with just 24 minutes on the clock, with O’Driscoll again adding the extras.

The Wanderers just about kept in the contest thanks to a pair of penalties from fly-half Scott Sneddon.

Pooler laid siege to the Wanderers line late on – and got their reward when Taylor powered over.

Pontypool: Tries – C Morgan, C Macey, S Taylor (2); cons – G O’Driscoll (3)

Glamorgan Wanderers: Pens – S Sneddon (2)
