ABERAVON last night got back on track to condemn Glamorgan Wanderers to an eighth consecutive league defeat.
With both clubs having suffered cup elimination on the weekend, the game was won and lost during the second quarter when the Wizards showed more desire.
During an uneventful opening quarter, Wanderers fly-half Scott Sneddon sent a penalty just wide of the posts.
But the Wizards sprang into life in the 28th minute with half-backs Chris Morgans and Jamie Davies along with full-back Paul Bamsey engineering an unconverted try for wing Marc Bennett.
Just three minutes later a powerful thrust from centre Chris Tossell resulted in him claiming a try close to the posts that fly-half Davies converted.
Aberavon led 12-0 at the changeover, but during the third quarter they had both lock Gavin Ronan and fly-half Davies binned.
While down to 14 men, Wanderers hit back with a 65th-minute try from centre Simon Rosser that fly-half Sneddon converted.
A Sneddon penalty on 74 minutes set up a grandstand finish, but the Wizards closed the game out.
